Ballet Ariel dances a heartwarming triple bill in their winter concert featuring the classical ballet ‘Paquita’, ‘Peter and the Wolf’, and a new contemporary ballet at the Cleo Parker Robinson Theatre on Saturday, February 27th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 28th at 3:00 pm.
PAQUITA The classical ballet ‘Paquita’ originated in the Paris Opera Ballet, and was later staged in Russia by the great choreographer Petipa. The beautiful Grand Pas Classique from the ballet ‘Paquita’ is performed by ballet companies around the world. Former Colorado Ballet prima ballerina Patricia Renzetti and soloist Oleg Dedogryuk will stage ‘Paquita’ for our winter concert.
PETER AND THE WOLF Ballet Ariel’s winter concert also features the popular ballet and music from ‘Peter and the Wolf’. The well-known and loved story is about the boy, Peter, who captures the Wolf with the help of his friend the Bird, but not before the Wolf eats the poor Duck.
MIRANDA Also, on our winter concert program is a new contemporary ballet by Gregory Gonzales. Reviewer Celeste Stragand said of an excerpt from the new ballet, that it “…enchanted and engaged. The interplay of weight and levity from movement to movement pushed bodies up and down as if cantilevered in unison” in presentingdenver.org.
