Every business should have a list of their, call them ‘preferred providers’, the people they do business with that they like to recommend. This list should have at least 2 realtors, an insurance provider, computer support, social media expertise, virtual assistant and/or temporary support provider, HVAC, cleaning services.  If they don’t have a list like that, they should do some concentrated networking and or start with Direct 2 Business Magazine.

When starting up a business in Colorado you must fill out a Colorado form CR100.  Once completed, you will be assigned a state tax id number.  You will need this number when you file state income taxes.  It is used for reporting and paying state sales tax.  If you have employees, this number will also be your state withholding number.

If you have employees, you must fill out the form UITL100.  You will receive an unemployment insurance reporting number and a rate will be assigned.  As of Jan 2012, employers are required to pay unemployment insurance on the first $11,000 of annual wages paid to each employee.  The rate can vary depending on your industry, but the most common rate for a new employer is 2.52%
